The church is unlisted but is set within the Stoke Road Conservation Area in Gosport at the junction of Stoke Road and Elmhurst Road. The original church was designed by Henry Woodyer (1816-1896) and built in two phases. In 1862-65 the nave and south aisle, with completion in 1882-83 when the north aisle was constructed. In the mid 1920s the church was extended to the east and north by the addition of vestries, sacristy, porch and organ loft to a design by Sir Charles Nicholson (1867-1949). Later alterations to the chancel, sanctuary and installation of the north aisle screen took place from the 1930s to the 1950s and were also by Nicholson.
