The church was dedicated in 1966, building having begun in 1965. The church complex was designed by David Nye of Guildford, and is typical of a large number of churches built by his practice in the 1950s ansd 60s. It was built for the modest sum of £38,000, but by mid 1980s those initial economies were starting to have high maitenance implications. Between 1992 and 1994 there was a major restoration, including recovering of the flat roof, recladding and redecoration externally, and relining and redecoration internally. A disabled toilet and associated alterations were constructed in 2006.
The main spaces of the building are formed by two large open structures (Church and Hall) with a Chapel and ancillary space between them. A vestry and office are located to the east of the church and a smaller meeting room with kitchen and servery are located to the west of the large hall.
The structure of the church and large hall are formed with laminated wood beams which are exposed and visible from the interior. The church has a steeply pitched roof covered with concrete tiles with a centrally located lead covered spire. The large hall has a shallow pitched roof covered with roofing felt. The remaining roofs are flat and covered with roofing felt.
Externally the walls are covereds with a reconstitued stone cladding panels made material known as 'Petrarch' which are installed as a cladding system screw fixed to a carriers system of softwood timber battens. The panels are sealed along all horizontal and vertical joints between panels with a felexible mastic sealant.
