The church was built 1843-1846, early work of George Gilbert Scott. It is large for the size of the community, although it was filled for 100 years but now the congregation is small. The coursed cut flintwork is rare and well-executed. It has a prominent tower at the west end. It is well-maintained but its size and Victorian building materials mean there will be always be a challenge to maintain it.

The church was built 1843-1846, early work of George Gilbert Scott.
The coursed cut flintwork is rare and well-executed. It has a prominent tower at the west end.
The style is Transitional between Early English and Decorated, the style belonging to the latter half of the thirteenth century, though the building is obviously early Victorian. The windows have characteristic bar and plate tracery. The walls are double, 3 feet 6 inches thick, and faced with skilfully squared flints of local origin, laid in even courses with an absolute minimum thickness of mortar.
The nave is lofty and spacious, the aisles are wide and light. North and south arcades are of five bays with slender, octagonal piers, crowned with plain capitals of two orders of fillet moulding. The chancel arch is exceptionally wide and tall, of three orders of shafting with circular capitals, again ornamented with star moulding. On both sides the central shaft is stopped some two feet below the capital by winged angels bearing open scrolls. In the north aisle is the Lady Altar, originally the high altar but moved here in 1924.
