There has been a church on this site since before 1086 as mention was made of Diston in the Doomsday survey of 1086. The village is later referred to as Dicton meaning homestead.
It is believed that the church of 1086 was in the position of the present nave whilst the existing north arcade dates from late 12th century, although it is believed that this was moved outwards in the 14th century.
The south arcade, south aisle porch tower, clerestories and battlements are of the one period of 1425-50. The foundations of the chancel are 14th century with extensive rebuilding in 1849.
The tower as mentioned houses six bells by Taylor of Loughborough 1863 together with the clock which is on the south side of the tower facing the village which chimes on the hour and every quarter of an hour.
The organ at All Saints' Parish Church, Kirk Deighton is of historical interest. It was originally built by in 1872 by W. Hill of London.
