A large church built in 1868, set back from the Otley Road. Paid for by the Becketts of Kirkstall Grange. Designed by Edmund Beckett Denison (later Lord Grimthorpe, now usually remembered for his drastic restoration of St Alban's Cathedral and as a driving force behind the rebuilding of St George's parish church in Doncaster some years before Far Headindley) but largely executed by architect W. H. Crossland. The chancel of St Chad's is a later extension. 1909-11. It replaced a polygonal apse.
