Ground plan:
Chancel, nave, west tower and south porch.
Footprint of Church buildings: 336 m²
The north door of the church is Norman, the nave probably dates from circa 1300 and the chancel is perhaps somewhat later. The lower parts of the tower probably also date from the 14th century but the upper section may be of later date and has certainly, been altered, witness the four-centred window heads and the embattled brick parapet.
The church is principally built of flint and rubble, with roof coverings of hand-made red tiles. Parts of the nave walls have been rendered, and red brick has been used in the parapet of the tower, and for repairs to some of the buttresses. The chancel has a large east window of five-ogee-trefoiled lights with reticulated tracery under a four-centred head and a drip-noulding with head-stops. The east wall has plain buttresses at each external angle and more buttresses of the same type support the side walls. At the east end of the south chancel wall is a small two-light Decorated window with a mouchette on the head, and further west is a taller two-light window of Perpendicular type. On the north side of the chancel is a relatively modern vestry.
The interior of the nave is plastered, although parts of an extensive scheme of wall paintings can be seen on the north wall. These paintings have been ascribed a mid 14th century date. At the west end an arch opens into the space underneath the tower, while at the east is the taller and more graceful chancel arch. On either side of the chancel arch are two piscinas, built to serve the medieval nave altar.
