Major Parish Church, 633338
http://www.becclesparish.org.ukGrid reference: TM 420 904
Both the church and the tower, which stands a little to the south and east of the church, are Perpendicular; an outstanding feature of the former is the two-storied porch at the west end of the south aisle, for which a bequest was made in 1455, and bequests for the tower were made between 1515 and 1547. The church is some 147 feet long, and there is no structural division between the nave and chancel; wide north and south aisles run from east to west. Flint is the predominant material for the nave and aisles, while the south porch is an unusually lavish example for East Anglia of freestone work.
Building is open for worship
The church is open from 9am-5pm daily. Services are also held throughout the week and on Sundays. Facilities include toilets and a ramped entrance.

The tower is faced with Roche Abbey stone and stands 97 feet tall. The tower is of four stages, of diminishing height as the eye moves upwards, and at the corners are massive angle buttresses which rise almost to the top and dwarf such detail as there is - the tower, in consequence, is a powerful and dominant element in the townscape and Beccles would be unthinkable without it. The fronts of the buttresses are hollowed out to form immensely tall niches with shafts rising almost their full height (i.e. almost the full height of the lowest storey) to provide a base for the long-vanished images. On the west side a doorway with a frieze of lozenge shapes over it, and then three tall niches for images, a four-light window with blank quatrefoils at the foot between the mullion, and a transom below which the lights are arched.
