The Parish church, built mostly of local stone is sited on a hillock in the centre of the village and is visible for quite a distance. The chancel and nave are C14 and the chancel is offset from the nave (traditionally said to represent Christ’s head leaning on the cross). A ‘drooping’ chancel sometimes indicates that it is built upon Saxon foundations.
Building is open for worship
Footprint of Church buildings: 188 m²
The chancel and nave are C14, the north porch is C15 which is now a vestry and in the north wall are two early C14 windows, with trefoiled ogee lights. The porch has a C14 outer archway with chamfered jambs and segmental pointed head, now blocked and with C20 window. During the 1890s the south aisle was added, and chancel restored (1891). The west tower is late C14.
The chancel and nave are C14 and the chancel is offset from the nave (traditionally said to represent Christ’s head leaning on the cross). A ‘drooping’ chancel sometimes indicates that it is built upon Saxon foundations. Both have dressed stone and banded stone and flint walls with slate and lead roofs. The chancel has a Ham stone parapet above the string.

During the 1890s the south aisle was added, and chancel restored (1891). The south wall has a 2-light window, trefoil-cusped with a label, all part of the restoration. The east window is in Perpendicular style, 4-lights with cinquefoil cusping and panel tracery.
In the nave the north wall contains two windows largely late C19, but incorporating C15 materials. Near the west end of the wall are lines of a blocked window with a 2-centred head.
The west tower is late C14, 3 stages, with set-track buttresses, an embattled parapet and gargoyles. The doorway has moulded jambs, and two centre arches, with upper plinth moulding carried over as a label. West window of 4 trefoiled lights with vertical tracery in a pointed head. The tower has a bell chamber where each wall has a window of 2 trefoiled ogee lights with a quatrefoil in pointed head, moulded reveals.

The chancel arch incorporates late C13 materials and is pointed of 3 chamfered orders. The moulded responds have marble shafting to the inner orders, with defaced stone capitals. North of arch, there is a restored opening to a squint. The carved heads of a man and woman are dated to 1470 and the woman is reputed to be Isobel Neville (1451-1476), wife to the Duke of Clarence who was brother to Richard III.
The tower holds a ring of 6 bells, the oldest of which was cast in C16, whilst the final two were added in C20 as gratitude for the fact that Toller Porcorum was a “Thankful Village” after WWII.
