Described by Nikolaus Pevsner as 'a church of very great interest, although that is not immediately apparant'. A medieval church restored in 1866 by Wilcock & Common, at which time it doubed in size on the north side and had a new chancel arch installed. Works to chancel were undertaken in 1909-10 by Sir Charles Nicholson, and much work was carried out to restore the nave. Although the north nave arcade and arches inside are variously late medieval. The churchyard is extensive with many table tombs and monuments of the Georgian and Victorian periods.
