The church is mainly of the mid-19th century, being rebuilt in 1858 by Thomas Wyatt, but it has a 15th century tower at its west end. Two three-light windows from the old church were restored and reset in the north wall of the new nave, the two are of 15th century origin but very little of the original stonework remains.

The west tower is of Greensand ashlar and has three main stages with a moulded and battered plinth and an embattled parapet. The tower has four diagonal buttresses; those to the NE and SE corners are incorporated in the west end of the nave and are visible inside.

The tower contains six bells, three modern, the oldest of mid-15th century and others inscribed AD 1624 and 1721. There is an interesting wall monument of 1670 within the tower, a kneeling effigy of John Straight, vicar, and erected during his lifetime.
