Construction of the Church was undertaken between 1819 and 1821 and is by John Kent of Southampton and Joseph Hannaford of Christchurch in a simplified Gothic style. The building is constructed in tooled Purbeck ashlar with slated roofs. Some of the windows have painted timber sub-frames which themselves are of simple flowing tracery.

The Church was constructed between 1819 and 1821 in a late 18th Century style. It has not been subject to major alteration since the time of construction.
The Medieval Parish Church was demolished starting in 1819 and the foundation stone was laid on the 31st May 1819.

The building is constructed in tooled Purbeck ashlar with slated roofs. Some of the windows have painted timber sub-frames which themselves are of simple flowing tracery. The plan comprises: Sanctuary with vestibule on both north and south sides including staircases to the Gallery, Nave, north and south aisles with Galleries to the north, south and west ends and a west Tower with low level Vestries to the north and south of the Tower.
Internally the Nave arcades comprise of clusters of pine shafts from Newfoundland bolted together to form a quatrefoil profile. The arches have plain capitals and circular top moulding. The Galleries and the Gallery pews have panelled fronts/backs which are painted. The Reredos, dating from 1736, was relocated from the previous Church.
