Located on a low mound in the centre of the village, there has been a church on this site in Wylye since the 13th Century - along with a churchyard, which is still in use.
Building is open for worship
Footprint of Church buildings: 311 m²
Originally the building consisted of Tower, Nave, South Porch and Chancel, with a gallery at the West end of the Nave. Because the church could only seat 200 people and the population of Wylye exceeded 500, permission was sought and granted in 1845 for the walls of the Nave and Chancel to be taken down to ground level, leaving just the 15th Century Tower. The walls were then rebuilt and a North Aisle and a small vestry were added. The Vestry was extended in the 1870's to accommodate a large organ. When the building was being rebuilt in 1845, the Patron - the Earl of Pembroke and Montgomery - gave the pulpit, a prayer desk, a lectern, two of the three brass chandeliers in the Nave and other smaller ones, from his church at Wilton when it was demolished to be replaced by the present Italianate Church.
The Tower has interesting stonework, with rainwater spouts carved as gargoyles. It has a clock, installed in 1775.
