In addition to being the oldest building in the Town surrounded by a well maintained Churchyard the Church is a haven for residents and visitors to Sedbergh. The exterior of the building is attractive but modest in scale and belies the sense of space and purpose of the interior which is light and airy. A fitting home for the Sedbergh embroideries, a remarkable East Window depicting the recruitment of Andrew and Peter as apostles, intricately carved oak pews purporting to be by Waring and Gillow, a fine organ and an imposing marble font. At the heart of the community the Church is the preferred choice of venue for concerts by the Sedbergh Orchestra and the Town Band. In addition to Christmas and summer fairs there is a biennial music festival which attracts international performers as well as being a showcase for local artists. In time the Church will become the “Minster Church” for the Western Dales Mission Community.
