The Church, designed by David Nye, was built by the Parishioners between 1958 and 1967 when Mervyn, Bishop of Southwark dedicated the new Church under the name Christ the King. The original building was demolished in 1968 and its site became a garden of remembrance. Originally this site was occupied by a Mission Church built in 1881.

Description of Archaeology and History
The Church, designed by David Nye, was built by the Parishioners between 1958 and 1967 when Mervyn, Bishop of Southwark dedicated the new Church under the name Christ the King.
The original building was demolished in was demolished in 1968 and its site became a garden of remembrance.
Originally this site was occupied by a Mission Church built in 1881.
In 1952, Salfords became a Parish in its own right.
Exterior Description
One of the major features at Christ the King are the tall glazed gables to the transepts and the west end.

Interior
Interior Description
The window at the west end is particularly beautiful and finished in a pattern of yellow and orange glass which gives a tremendous feel to the interior when the sun is in the correct position. This was designed by Margaret Treherne and conveys the idea of the Creation.
The other stained glass window is of the Last Supper and was originally in the east window of the old Christ Church. It was donated by the Maple family in memory of their son Harry who died in 1879.
The font was made by Bruce Connell and constructed of Portland Stone with a mahogany lid and a cross shaped handle.
