St Andrew's church is a medieval foundation rebuilt in 1846-8 to a design by ecclesiastical architect Robert Dennis Chantrell. Chantrell was a popular architect with the Church Buildings Commissioners in Yorkshire and whose best known work is the rebuilding of Leeds parish church 1837-41. The rebuilding of St Andrew's church in Keighley was one of Chantrell's largest commissions. It originally had galleries inside, plans of which are kept in the ICBS catalogue at Lambeth Palace library (digital scans can be viewed online). Several medieval monuments survive inside the church, including two medieval grave covers and early medieval standing stone cross fragments. There is also a font dated 1661 now located at the east end of the south aisle. The church building has been substantially reordered in the later part of the 20th centurt, with nave pews replaced by unfixed seating and a glazed narthex beneath the survivng portion of Chantrell's original west gallery, which has been truncated but retains its original tiered seating. The church hall stands close to the south side of the church, divided by an informal footpath, and overlooking an expansive burial ground dropping down to the south. The hall was built in the 1980s.
