The building, as with many Victorian village churches, is of a simple design built of local stone and has been altered over the years to suit the worship patterns of the time. The general plan of the church includes an entrance porch, nave, chancel, vestry and south aisle.

The foundation stone was laid by the 5th Earl of Dartmouth on 23rd August 1866 and the Church was dedicated by the Lord Bishop of Ripon on September 9th 1868.
The building, as with many Victorian village churches, is of a simple design built of local stone and has been altered over the years to suit the worship patterns of the time. The general plan of the church includes an entrance porch, nave, chancel, vestry and south aisle.
The modern altar dates from 2013. One of the features of the Chancel is the number of stained glass windows. The most noticeable of which is the East Window illustrating the Crucifixion, Resurrection and Ascension.
