The Church is medieval and has been used for Christian worship for about 800 years and continues to be used for that purpose to the present day.
In Victorian times the Church was extended to include the current Vestry with a room above and the North Aisle which was never consecrated because it was not considered to be architecturally in keeping with the original building.
As you enter the Church there is a stone font inside the door and to one side is the entrance to the Bell Tower and the Norman Tower, with its clock and flag pole.
There is a nave, with choir stalls leading to the main altar, with a stained glass window above it. To one side is an old monument commemorating a local family who lived for many generations at Woolas Hall.
There is a side aisle with its own small altar to the south and on the opposite side of the Church there is the more modern, unconsecrated North Aisle and Vestry, with a toilet and small kitchen.
