The style of the building is decorated, and the broad nave is no doubt a reflection of the need to provide as much seating within the church as possible and for that seating to command a view of the pulpit. The external facing is roughly dressed sandstone, which well suits the sturdy character of the building.
Building is open for worship
Ground plan:
A long broad aisleless nave with a south porch; transepts; shallow ehancel with vestry and tower to the south and an organ chamber to the north.
Footprint of Church buildings: 799 m²
The tower is commanding and the detail of its design makes it without doubt the most impressive part of the building; it is relatively unusual in its position, on the south side of the chancel, but this may well have been to secure the maximum impact upon the main Halesowen Road and this is certainly achieved.
The style of the building is decorated, and the broad nave is no doubt a reflection of the need to provide as much seating within the church as possible and for that seating to command a view of the pulpit. The external facing is roughly dressed sandstone, which well suits the sturdy character of the building. Nave windows are of two principal lights, with a cinquefoil in the head and in the two western bays, where there is a gallery within, the windows are contractedto a cinquefoil only with the same heavy hood-mould as for the more easterly windows. The west front is not wholly unimpressive - three large windows, the centre one slightly larger than the other two, over a central doorway with a sharp triangular gable.
The interior may be characterised by its spaciousness and the vigour of its prominent roof-structure. At the west is the gallery, two bays deep, and the front painted white; in the centre, rather unexpectedly for a church of this period, is a brightly polychromed Royal Arms.
