St Stephen's is a modest brick church in a restrained modern style. The exterior is of brown brick, with low-pitched roofs in slate. The windows are rectangular with steel lattice pattern. The east end butts onto the 2-storey much larger hall which firms a kind of cross-wing, the west end of the church faces to the busy Spring Bank Road, within a small garden laid to grass.
