St Hilda’s was built in 1882, designed by Charles Hodgson Fowler. It is built of dressed stone with ashlar dressings, plain roof tiles and coped gables with finials, and has quoins, a chamfered plinth and a sill band. The nave and chancel are under a single roof with a dividing coped gable. There is a wooden square bellcote with a pyramidal wooden spire to the West gable. There is a South porch and a North East vestry. The West front has two lancet windows with hood moulds and a single mandola shaped window above, all in chamfered surrounds. The North front has two chamfered lancets with hood moulds to nave. There is a projecting lean to vestry with Caernarvon arched doorway to the West and single small lancets to the North and East, and a gabled ashlar chimney stack. The east front has 3 graduated chamfered lancets in single pointed ashlar opening with a hood mould. The south front has slightly projecting lean-to porch with a bracketed hood and pointed arched doorway with a double chamfered surround. The nave has 3 chamfered lancets and the chancel has a pair of chamfered lancets plus a single lancet beyond.
In 2000 the Millennium Room was built, including a small kitchen and toilet – incorporating the vestry and with a connecting door to the North side of the main body of the church; it includes stained glass windows from the redundant chapels at Wombleton and Nawton.
The church has a double chamfered chancel arch, and an arch braced collar roof to nave incorporating a wooden bell frame to the West and a lower painted panelled roof to chancel. There are wooden pews (at the construction of the Millennium Room several pews were removed and replaced by stackable chairs) and a wooden pulpit, an octagonal stone font, and an east stained-glass window by Kempe and Tower c 1903- 05. There is a marble wall relief monument to Lillian Duncombe, 1905, carved by Countess Gleichen, daughter of Count Gleichen Prince Victor of Hohenlohen- Langenburg.
