The most striking feature of the exterior is the tall Perpendicular west tower of grey ashlar, with its crocheted spire and square corner pinnacles - a landmark for miles around; below the parapet of the tower is a frieze decorated with a cusped lozenge pattern. The walls of the aisles are of local ironstone with Ancaster stone bands. The north aisle has a plain, single-chamfered Transitional doorway. The chancel, which is wide in proportion to its length, was rebuilt in 1838 and has a square headed east window.
