The old parish church is 13th-14th century, mainly rebuilt in the 14th-15th centuries, simple and of ironstone. All interior flooring and furnishings and the north wall were swept away when the church was extended in 1913-15. The extension was in effect the building of a new church. It is by Sir Walter Tapper in a 13th century style using oolitic limestone. It includes a tower, a west gallery, a new nave (alongside the old nave), new chancel and a vestry. Tapper also remodelled the old church in parallel – the old chancel became a Lady Chapel and the altar, floor and screening here all match those in the new church.
