Ground plan:
Nave, chancel, west tower and north-east vestry.
The majority of the church seems to date from the 15th century, although the site is apparently a Saxon one. The building was restored in 1890.
The building material is flint rubble with facings of flint laid in regular courses. The copings and dressings are of stone, and the roof coverings of tiles. The tall four stage tower has stepped diagonal buttresses and an embattled parapet decorated with flushwork lozenges. A narrow stair-turret with decorative quoins runs up the north-east corner of the tower. The windows if the belfry are of two lights with Perpendicular tracery under a four-centred head. In front of the east window is mounted a clock face under a wooden pediment.
The nave of the church is short and wide, the chancel longer and narrower. There are neither aisles nor porches, and only small entrance doors, with a three light Perpendicular window over, on north and south nave walls. East of the door, on both sides of the nave, are two large three-light windows with Perpendicular tracery under quasi four-centred heads. The nave walls are further articulated by single-stepped buttresses.
The chancel has a rather smaller window of the same type as those in the nave, or each side at the west end; indeed if it were not for the small vestry attached to the north-side of the chancel the church would appear the same an north and south. The chancel east wall rises from the pavement of Fye Bridge Street, and has a Decorated window of three cusped lights with tracery in the head.
The interior of the building is light, for there is no stained glass, apart from some tinted quarries in the east and west windows. The walls have been whitened. In the west wall of the nave is a tall moulded tower arch which dies into the responds. The tower space serves as a choir vestry and is lit by a large three-light Perpendicular window in the west external wall of the tower. Above the tower arch is a small blocked opening. The nave is covered by a pitched roof of wide span with very prominent arch braces which run down onto, wall-posts, alternately long and short, between and over the windows. The chancel arch has single attached jamb-shafts with demi-octagonal capitals.
The chancel has two large wall-arches on each side. The roof above them is of arch-braced construction, but the rafters are concealed behind boarding. The braces descend onto wall posts which are decorated with carved angels, and connected to each other by curved braces on the wall. The lower half of the sanctuary wall is covered with tapestry decoration, set into panelled surrounds; the panelling may have been re-used from elsewhere.
