Site of church(es) for over eight centuries. Old church demolished in 1726 and rebuilt. Dating of unique internal timber structure is not agreed between authorities; opinion is divided between the columns being 18th century and the rest of late 19th century and all being late 19th century. Whatever the date, it is extraordinary. The font survives from a much earlier church while pews, pulpit and communion rails survive from the 17th century church.
