A church was first built here in Norman times. It was reconstructed in 1745. The round-headed windows are the result of a mid 18th century neo-Norman revival. The tower has pseudo Norman bell-openings and the facade has round-headed windows, The west front is essentially a classical conception with 'Norman' details.

Ground plan:
Nave with north and south aisles; also having north and south transepts, provided as mortuary chapels. To the east of these is a central tower with shallow transeptal projections to north and south of it, housing respectively a priests vestry and heating chamber. East of the tower is a relatively long and narrow chancel approached through a gated iron screen.

The tower has pseudo Norman bell-openings and the facade has round-headed windows, The west front is essentially a classical conception with 'Norman' details. The aisles appear from the west as slightly projecting pavilions with broken pediments whereas the nave facade has a steeply-pitched gable containing an oculus and two 'Norman' windows.
Stained Glass
Fragments of mediaeval and 18th century glass in the north transept window depicting the Mauleverer Arms.
Stained Glass
18th Century
In the east window is 18th century glass showing two small pictures of the church.
The interior is plastered and whitened: the north and south arcades are 14th century, having octagonal piers without capitals. The roof is of unique construction, a remarkable piece of joinery design, probably 17th century. In the east wall of the chancel is a five light Perpendicular window with a depressed head beneath a brick relieving arch; and one of the south nave windows appears to be a genuine mediaeval work.
