The C12th church, believed to be on the site of a ruined C7th church, has experienced progressive alteration and enlargement into the C15th and the C17th, C19th and C20th restorations and repairs contribute to rather than detract from the experience of this church. The side chapels, projecting porch with a variety of windows of different periods add interest to the exterior. The west end has a C19th double bell-cote and the east end of the Nave retains the mediaeval bell-cote for the angelus bell. The roof is of red sandstone flag with red sandstone copings over coursed and random coursed walling masonry of roughly squared red sandstone block. Internally the aisle arcades although semi-circular are carried on shafts and capitals with fillet mouldings suggestive of the later stage of the Early English style, the Transitional period. The chancel arch is carried on figurative carved corbles.
