Interior
Interior Description
The nave is of six bays, and aisleless, and the chancel a shallow projection with a large east window. There are no internal arcades and the body of the church is spanned by an open timber roof of simple, low arched brace type. Timber galleries run round the northwest and south sides supported on posts. A large organ, with a case of no particular merit, occupies almost the whole of the western gallery. There is evidence of internal rearrangement of the pews and other fittings. The large two decker pulpit was at one time at the east end of the central aisle but for many years has been in its present position at the west end of the central aisle in a space formed by setting back the surrounding pews. A liturgical curiosity is the arrangement of the box pews college chapel— wise; this seems always to have been so. The pew ends are decorated with an impressive array of poppy headed finials based on mediaeval bench ends; they are made of gesso like material.
