Ground Plan Description and Dimensions
Ground plan:
Nave with north and south passage aisles, chancel, north transept, Lady Chapel on the south side with meeting room below, polygonal baptistery at the west, and south-east turret with spirelet over the vestry in the corner between chancel and Lady Chapel.
Exterior Description
Principally of brick, with stone window tracery and occasional rectangles of stone let into the wall surface to give variation in texture and colour. The strong lines of the sloping buttresses enhance the vigour of the composition. Window tracery is of mixed Decorated/ Perpendicular style and the roof coverings are of green slates. It is altogether a remarkable building, carefully detailed and clearly the product of a highly personal imagination.
Interior
Interior Description
The interior walls are of plain brickwork, with sandstone piers and detailing. A wide arch, of banded stone and brick, separates each bay of the nave and gives a powerful forward- moving rhythm looking towards the chancel.
