Description of Archaeology and History
Entirely rebuilt in 1883 by R. H. Carpenter and B. Ingelow (who had also rebuilt North Wootton in 1882) but incorporating some 13th century features from the earlier church which had stood further to the south.
Exterior Description
The materials are local rubble-stone with dressings of Ham Hill stone, and tiled roof-coverings. Original features from the earlier building include the partly restored 13th century east window of three grouped lancet lights with a trefoiled rere-arch; a 13th century lancet window in the north wall of the nave, with the west splay cut away for a staircase to the former rood-loft - the fragment of stairs to the rood-loft is 19th century, an attempt to convey verisimilitude; and in the south wall of the nave are two partly restored 13th century lancet lights.
