Goole: St Paul
Overview
Grid reference: SE 740 239
The church is built of red brick, with a modest use of stone bands and stone also for the windows, in a street parallel to the High Street of Goole. Adjoining it is a large flour mill, somewhat dwarfing it in scale, and the area is one of 'back-to-back' houses which are being gradually cleared and not replaced by residential accommodation for the most part. The east window is an impressive composition from the outside, three tall lancets of equal height with attached shafts and moulded jambs; the north and south windows are each of a single lancet light and the nave is lit by clerestory lights in groups of three under a single moulding.
