Although this site has been used for worship for probably at least 1,000 years, the current structure is an extensive rebuilding in 1714 of an older church, which was then extensively remodelled by architect Anthony Salvin in 1868. The visual coherence of the church, incorporating earlier material, demonstrates the quality of the Victorian refurbishment.
