The church is believed to date from the C13th although extensively restored and enlarged in the C19th. The mediaeval east window is partly original although heavily restored with C19th tracery probably copied from the original geometry. There are two single lancet windows to the north wall of the chancel that are likely to be original. The other trefoil headed double lancet windows to the chancel are C19th insertions. The chancel has been raised in height by three courses and the original tabling course partly reused. The tabling course to the nave is of a different profile suggesting a different period of construction. There is a C13th tomb cover effigy of a knight to the north side of the chancel. The architectural character of the building is dominated by the extent of the C19th alterations.
