Here is a replacement for another one of the four temporary Barrow churches of 1877; reflecting the rapid growth of the town. Designed by London architects Seely and Paget in 1935 the church is a cruciform on plan and built of concrete which is most unusual. Pevsner says it has a "strange" outline and, perhaps, it is a little incongruous in its setting but this adds to its significance. As the Quinquennial Report also says the design is unique to this area and in fact there may be few other examples surviving intact. Apparently the architect was inspired by a tour of the Mediterranean and although there appear to be few windows the interior space is a joy and full of light. The interior fittings are also of interest with seats of a late Arts and Crafts feel and the pulpit from the old church. Some reordering has allowed for a well used meeting space for around 40 people.
