The slightly elevated site, spire and overall profile make this a distinctive church more than a simple chapel of ease, yet in its lancet windows and simple nave, not entirely claiming to be the mother parish church. Said to have been paid for by the Howard family of nearby Levens Hall after a disagreement with the Heversham parish vicar, it nevertheless (or perhaps to prove the point) asserts its presence. The references inside, well into the C20, are to the Bagot family, as a reminder of its patronage connections. Hence the architecture remains simple but the furnishings and glass, as objects invested with patronage, are finer. The west gallery is housed behind a cross wall supporting the octagonal bell tower and spire; the west gable suffers badly from exposure to driven rain. The space is generous. Oak is the language of liturgy, everything being solidly but well crafted and contributing to a unifying setting for worship, the only anomaly being the blank panel left by moving the altar off the east wall. Outside, the Japanese frame housing bells brought from Milnthorpe is an interesting curiosity (attributed to Rev Swann who prior to its installation in c.1914 had been a missionary in Japan).
