A rendered church with some stone dressings. Giles Redmayne was the benefactor of Holy Trinity Church and William Wordsworth helped him find the hilltop site. Wordsworth wrote There is not a situation outside the Alps or among them more beautiful than this Unfortunately the design of the building itself is less inspiring and the architect, John Latham, produced a sobering and rather depressing version of the Romanesque style. Unusually, because of the limited site area, the church is orientated North-South and not East- West. However, and perhaps of more interest, there is a varied and sculptural array of head stones. The Virginia creeper was a significant local feature of the church tower in the Autumn but this has been removed for practical reasons. The interior is enhanced by some good stained glass and appropriate and early? light fittings.
