The church is only a mile from the village but it appears to sit in splendid isolation surrounded by its churchyard; the site of a 7th century monastery. A simple structure with a nave, chancel and bellcote, it has a domestic scale. The listing description confirms its medieval origins but with 17th century alterations. It is roughcast with stone dressings and a very simple interior space with a 19th century barrel vaulted roof and a dramatic double-chamfered chancel arch. The interior is a delight and includes panelled wainscoting and a 17th century pulpit. The arms of George III are over the altar (unusual position?) but the plate cup of 1779 is now at Calder Bridge as the church is only used for services three times a year. In the churchyard are two Saxon Cross Shafts which are Scheduled Ancient Monuments.
