An extraordinary church. Not only is it mostly late 14th century (on an earlier plinth) but it has an unusual stone vaulted nave and transepts, unusual in England, familiar in Scotland but common in the south of France. Font is of this earlier period. Successful 21st century millennium window glass

Exterior Description
Described by Nicholas Pevsner as 'one of the architectural sensations of Cumberland.' The present church is from about 1400 but there is ample evidence that was an earlier Norman Church of the 12th century. Outward appearance is perpendicular
