16th century ruins of the original mid 12th century church still stand in the yard, near the present church. A large scale, thoroughly competent neo-Norman edifice, built in 1868 by Corey and Ferguson, the major regional church architects of the time. The interior is unexpectedly in brick, with other high quality, decorative materials throughout. Incorporates three original Norman arches and a 15th century window from the original church, a challenging recycling philosophy for the 21st century. The church also contains a very finely carved mid 12th century font, unique in quality in the region. Chancel stalls originally supplied for lay reps from local villages.
