Built in stone in 1865 by Bruce of Whitehaven, a minor local church architect of the time. The architecture is surprisingly old fashioned gothic for its period, but its traditional tower is a significant local landmark to Christianity in Cockermouth and it compliments the steeple of All Saints church in many views within and without the town.
