A smart 1890s church by CJ Ferguson, Cumbrias premier church architect of the time. The church was built at a cost of £1000 by public subscription and became known as the John Dalton Memorial Church at a later date and a plaque in the church erected by the Royal Society celebrates this national/local connection.
