Christ Church was built in 1872 and occupies a prominent position close to the harbour. The church is built entirely of red sandstone with a bell tower and high stone spire rising above the entrance porch. It is likely that the positioning of the church and its spire will have been conceived as a leading mark for the harbour entrance. The roof is of slate over an exposed collar tie truss roof structure. The roof trusses are carried down to stone corbels below eaves level and purlins and rafters are all exposed. In plan form the axis of Nave and Choir is orientated north / south and there is a single aisle on the east side. Although the church is of modest Architectural significance it is a prominent feature of the harbour front.
