The present church is believed to date from the late C16th although there has been a church on this site back to at least 1220. The presence of a very ancient yew tree within the churchyard suggests the possibility of the site having religious significance before the Christian era. The church is of simple plan form comprising a single rectangular space and an entrance porch at the west end. Very thick rubble stone walls with simple rectangular timber framed openings support a C19th roof of exposed timber trusses and exposed rafters. The C19th roof replaces an earlier roof was destroyed in a storm of 1882. There is a single small stone bellcote above the west gable. Furnishings are extremely simple with box seating lining the walls. There is a reading desk of 1634 and an altar table of 1674.
