St Bartholomew’s church is the third parish church to be erected on the site and was consecrated on 7th January 1886. The church presence dominates the village setting with views of its northern aspect from the village green. The church is accessed via a lichgate and a gravel pathway which meanders through mature yew trees, lawns and well stocked borders in a well maintained churchyard which includes a stone war memorial and leads to the North Porch. On the south side of the church lies the consecrated burial ground and set within this is a tower, being the only remaining part of the previous church. The church building was designed by J L Pearson. It is small with the nave measuring 16.0 metres by 6.2 metres and has a fine vaulted ceiling. The tower sits in line with the nave springing from the junction with the chancel. A small vestry and organ chamber are located to the south side of the nave adjacent to the tower. The church is constructed throughout of coursed sandstone with mouldings and ornaments of restrained design. The internal and external fabric is in very good condition due to the relatively recent date of construction. The roof slopes are clad with traditional ‘rosemary’ type clay tiles and the tower is surmounted by a fine sandstone steeple.

The notable internal features within the church are the arms of Queen Anne with the motto “Semper Eadem”, which are displayed internally above the door; the font, which is located at the rear west end of the church level with the central aisle and beneath the west window, with its upper portion constructed from Mexican Onyx, pillars below from Blue John stone, and a base constructed from three varieties of marble; the west window, which includes memorial windows of stained glass mainly by Clayton and Bell of London, and is set within deeply recessed reveals to maximize daylight penetration; the pulpit, chancel steps and reredos, which are all of alabaster; and the recently restored Willis organ, which is notable for its folding screens with paintings in the Italianate style.
