Ground plan:
West tower, nave with aisles, south-west porch.
West tower 15th century, the rest partially rebuilt in 1595 and 1?93 and entirely rebuilt by James Trubshaw in 1833. Rebuilt again by James Brooks, 1892-3. Only the tower remains.
The tower is of five stages with an elaborate west facade - the lowest stage has a west door with flanking statues of bishops (one presumably being St.Chad) in canopied niches; in the second stage a large window also flanked by statues with tall pinnacled canopies over the niches and above the window, in the third stage, is a carved group representing the Trinity. The statues are original though partly recarved. The bell-stage has two light bell-openings under a single ogee moulding and above this is a battlemented parapet with tall corner pinnacles.
