The church dates from the early 12th Century. Built of sandstone, the tower is from 1100, and its fine shingle spire, recently restored after gale damage, dates from the 14th Century. The main exterior body has renaissance windows presumably replacing early English glazing. It has a fine 15th Century vaulted porch entrance on the south side. Its exterior presents a pleasing and interesting visual effect, reflecting changes to its appearance over centuries.
The interior comprises chancel and nave with north and south transepts, the windows containing 19th and 20th Century stained glass. It has capacity to seat about 400 people, some in pews and with space around for seating in chairs, or when the church is not in use for services, for visitors to appreciate the memorials to local families and internal features.
