The present church was built between 1891 and 1892. The Church Archirect was G. F. Bodley. The building was consecrated by the Bishop of Chichester on 12th August 1892 and dedicated to All Saints.
Building is open for worship
Footprint of Church buildings: 504 m²
The exterior of the building together with the internal walls is of Wealden Sandstone with crisp detailing. The roof covering is a little unusual for the occasion, being originally of Collyweston stone slates, thought to have been used as the builders were familiar with the material. These remain on the North slope and over the Lady Chapel, the south slope has recently been recovered with Penryn slate after storm damage, Colleyweston stone slates being not available at the time.
The North and South Aisles have low pitched roof covered in copper. There is also copper lining to the parapet gutter of the Tower, the Tower spire being lead covered. The low pitched Vestry roof is covered by a replacement modern proprietary composite material.
Many of the windows are filled with stained glass much of which is said to have been by the artist, C. E. Kempe, who lived a few miles away at Lindfield and, after his death, by his assistant and successor, W. E. Tower. Only the east window has the familiar Wheatsheaf, which is Kempe’s mark.
The Church consists of the following areas:
The west end of the Nave and North and South Aisles were formed into three separate rooms in 1988 by full height glass screens and doors.
