CORNER STONE
Sir – My photograph (above) shows a carving which is believed to be the oldest of any church in Somerset. It was discovered in the interior of the church during restorations in the last century, and is now a corner stone in the north-east wall of the vestry. Arthur Mee likes to think of it as “Jupiter holding up the church of Compton Dando…” a village seven miles from Bristol.
