The church of St. Michael, Taddington, was rebuilt on a larger scale in the 1370s. It consists of chancel, clerestoried nave of four bays, north and south aisles, western tower with broach spire, a sacristy possibly 15th century, a choir vestry of 1940 (both latter on the north side) and a south porch. It has four bells, two of them pre-reformation, one-dated 1669 and the last 1876.

It has a stone gospel reading desk set in the north wall of the chancel dated as being of the 15th century and perhaps inserted when the sacristy was built. A three seat sedilia is on the south wall and it is thought that the founder was buried beneath it. A stone slab, probably a former altar, lies under the floorboards beneath the present wooden high altar, which is surrounded by riddell posts. The architecture is a mixture of decorated and perpendicular periods. In the south aisle facing east is the Blackwall Chapel which was refurbished in 1943 with a brass – now set on the south wall to the side of the present altar – to Richard and Agnes Blackwall and their twelve children dated 1503. The piscine here is of the same date as that in the chancel. A mutilated alabaster slab to another member of that family has been moved to the porch where there is also a gritstone slab bearing a Latin cross probably the coffin lid of a 13th century priest. This latter was also set in the floor but in the north west corner of the church. The Lady Chapel in the corresponding corner in the north aisle was furnished in 1923. The octagonal font by the south door is of the 15th century while that by the north door (which leads into the choir vestry) is older – possibly 13th century and was rescued from the nearby hostelry. Both are lead lined. The five light east window with tracery had stained glass inserted in 1993 (rescued from a demolished Birkenhead church) made by Burlison and Grylls in Edwardian years. The fragment of painting on the west wall at one time authoratively considered to be a 15th century painting of St Christopher (Prof. Tristram and Dr. O. Caiger-Smith) is now accepted as an early 18th century painting of King David.
