All Saints Church stands in an elevated position, bounded by stone walls, alongside Church Lane to the east and open countryside to the west, within the village of Mugginton and parish of Weston Underwood, seven miles north of Derby. The church is Grade 1 listed, and dates at least as far back as the Domesday Book. The early foundation is confirmed by a yew tree reported as being 1400 years old close to the south porch. The tower is Norman with later alterations. The church has extensive 13th and 14th century additions and a Perpendicular chancel. The south aisle was lengthened towards the east in the mid 15th century. The church was renovated in 1845.
