Current building dates from Norman times. Chancel south doorway is 12th century. Church largely rebuilt in the 14th century with the porch added in the 17th century. The Chancel was restored in 1855 and the remainder in 1858. The spire was was rebuilt in 1867. The building has a Nave with South Porch, West Tower and spire. East Chancel with to the north side an organ chamber. Vestry, Vestry Lobby and accesible WC.

Remains of wall painting above the entrance. Numerous memorials in the church to the Hopton family who were local land owners. Gauntlet from the English civil war attached to a monument from that period. Frederick Preedy tiles behind the alter. One piece of medieval glass. The rest was replaced during the Victorian period.
